A suggested itinerary to experience Friuli among landscapes, food and excellent wine. An unforgettable food and wine tour in Friuli, where culinary tradition and scenic beauty come together in a unique experience. With full board and an experienced tour leader, you will explore the wonders of this fasci-nating region.
You will get to know the infinite facets of this region rich in gastronomic cultural stimuli and aspects and you will visit historic cities such as Udine, Aquileia and Grado and Cividale, immersing yourself in their rich culture and history. In San Daniele del Friuli, you will discover the secrets of the famous local ham directly in a ham factory. In Cividale del Friuli, you will participate in a tasting of local wines, savor-ing the authentic flavors of the area. We will end our trip in Trieste, exploring the magnificent Miramare Castle and enjoying the unique atmosphere of the city.
Notes: Local restaurants in this tour will be authentic and very typical, but they can be quite small, in order to make sure to have the best experience we suggest to book the tour sometime in advance and for the same reason we suggest to offer this tour to small groups ( 10-20 pax ).
The itinerary may be subject to change both before departure and during the trip. We will strive to re-schedule everything in the best possible way without altering the essence of the trip itself.

Day 1: Udine
Arrival at the train station and private transfer to the hotel in Udine.
Check-in and time to freshen up before lunch.
Lunch in a typical restaurant in the city center.
Afternoon dedicated to visiting Udine: Walking tour with a guide in the city between Piazzale del Castello, Piazza Libertà, Via Mercatovecchio, Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Municipio, Piazza Duomo, Palazzo Arcivescovile with Gallerie del Tiepolo, walk in the city with a visit to artisan workshops and historic shops.
* Please note that visits to the Palazzo Arcivescovile are external, the Gallerie del Tiepolo close at 6:00 pm and the closing day is Tuesday, so entry is subject to the date and time.
18:30 – 19:30 pm Aperitif: At the end of the tour, aperitif in one of the many "Osterie" in the city center, including 2 glasses of Friulian wine with tastings of typical local products (typical "tartine"or cold cuts).
20.00 Dinner in a typical Friulian restaurant based on typical dishes of the region, including an appetizer, a first or second course, 1 dessert and 1 glass of wine. * Menu to be agreed upon based on seasonality/allergies and diets of the guests.
After dinner, time available for a walk in the center.
Overnight stay in Udine in a 3* superior or 4* central hotel.
Day 2: Udine - Aquileia - Grado - Udine
After breakfast, transfer by bus to Aquileia.
10.00 12.00 Visit to Aquileia with guide. The UNESCO site "Archaeological Area of Aquileia and Patriarchal Basilica" preserves the remains of one of the largest and richest cities of the Roman Empire (all entrances are included).
13.00 – 14.30 Lunch in Grado with typical fish cuisine with typical specialties of the la-goon (possibility of meat or vegetarian menu)
After lunch, time is available for a walk in the historic center of Grado.
17.00/17.30 Return to Udine and time available.
20.00 Dinner in a typical Friulian restaurant based on typical dishes of the region, including an appetizer, a first or second course, 1 dessert and 1 glass of wine. * Menu to be agreed according to the seasonality / allergies and diets of the guests Overnight stay in Udine in a 3* superior or 4* central hotel.
Day 3: Udine - San Daniele and ham tasting - Udine
After breakfast transfer by bus to Lake Cornino, visit of the "Regional Nature Reserve of Lake Cornino" to discover the conservation project for griffon vultures, here you can take a short walk around the lake, a small lake with crystal clear waters surrounded by un-spoiled nature.
Transfer by bus to San Daniele, visit to a ham factory and lunch-tasting based on tastings of San Daniele ham of various seasons, various cold cuts, cheeses with mustard, pickles, a glass of wine and water. Cover charge included with bread and breadsticks.
After lunch walk in the center of San Daniele walk and visit of the historic center of San Daniele with guide: Visit of San Daniele: Piazza Vittorio Emanuele (Duomo), Church of S. Maria della Fratta, Church of S. Antonio Abate (small Sistine of Friuli).
16.30 Return to Udine and free time for a walk in the city before dinner.
20.00 Dinner in a typical Friulian restaurant based on typical dishes of the region, including an appetizer, a first or second course, 1 dessert and 1 glass of wine. * Menu to be agreed according to seasonality / allergies and diets of the guests.

Day 4: Udine - Cividale and wine tasting - Udine
After breakfast departure for Cividale, one of the unmissable destinations in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It preserves precious testimonies of its Lombard past and represents the starting point of the UNESCO itinerary dedicated to the legacy that this mysterious population has left to Italy. (All entrances are included)
12.30 14.00: Lunch in Cividale based on typical products of the area and the Natisone valleys, including the famous "frico" ; after lunch, time available for a walk in the center.3.00 pm: Departure for the Collio area;
15.30 – 17.00/17.30 wine tasting: Guided by experts, you will travel to discover how micro-climates, different soils and exposures make Friulian wines unique.
18.00 return by bus to Udine and time available before dinner.
19.30 Dinner in a typical tavern of the city, tonight dinner includes a classic Friulian dinner, based on cold cuts, cheeses and pickles, bread and croutons of all kinds!

Day 5: Trieste and Miramare
After breakfast departure by bus to Trieste
10.30 – 12.00 time available for a visit to Miramare Castle (entrance included, no guide)
12.30 – 14.00 Lunch in a typical Trieste restaurant, where you can taste the typical cuisine of Trieste, influenced by the Austro-Hungarian flavors that makes it unique in the region.
14.00 – 16.30 After lunch visit to the city and its most famous monuments.
17.00 departure for Gorizia, short walk in the city to see the famous Piazza Translapina and the border that separates the city right in its center.
19.00 21.30 Dinner in a typical Gorizia restaurant, where you will taste dishes with local fla-vors accompanied by a good wine from the Collio.
At the end of dinner departure for Udine (or possibility of sleeping in Gorizia)

Day 6: Departure
After breakfast departure by bus to the station and train (or flight) to your next destination!
